WELCOME PEOPLE

The Roller Coaster Ride is a reflection written by two kids, Freddie and Victor from the L.E.S and we go to school at University Neighborhood Middle School. The stuff we learned in school this year was surprising cause I never thought that we would be learning what America did for all these years. But we think 8 grade was the hardest year of middle school cause we had alot more work to do and alot more projects to do. But it was the funniest year with the best teachers.

8th GRADE ADVICE COLUMN

Well our names are Victor an Freddie and if your coming to 8th grade be ready and prepared cause if you not then you would suffer. If you are one of those students that think school is easy well 8th grade is not and we telling you this from experience you have to work your butt off to pass to the 9th grade. If you need advice we are people for you,first one don't slack of in the beginning of the year. Two if you have friends and they don't like to stay after school and you are failing the right thing to do is not hang out with them,three if you forget to do a project or something else and the teacher gives you time you better take that time as if you find money on the floor. Four don't do good in one class and not the other,five and if you have Mr.Locker next year you better take him serious if not we feel so bad for you. Also to tell you the truth if we had someone telling me this right now we would write this down because when you come in September you are going to be lost. When we came in we did all of the opposite of the advice I told you.

WHY DO WE FIGHT?

There are so many reasons to Why Do We Fight?. Some can say fighting will always be the wrong thing two do or some say its sometimes right to fight. We have our reasons, but were not telling you yet.
But we are going to tell you that in every country, state, city or any place you go people have there reasons of why they fight. For example people fight for race or freedom like Martin Luther King Jr want to fight for black people and also black freedom, like when he got all those kids to go to jail to show others that they have no fear what so ever. Another example is that when jews got attack by Hitler U.S help the jews fight but was it a just war that happened who really knows. An what were the jews fighting for freedom of realign. There are so meny examples we can tell you just about these, but what we want everyone to remember is WHY DO WE FIGHT? An what is the reason for fighting. We think the reason for fighting is if its for someone you love or if your protecting someone.

victor's mind of reading!

When I first came to middle school I really didn't think of reading as part of my life and I really didn't like it. Before on my free time I wouldn't think of reading but now on my free time thats all I do. In the 7th grade when I first came by the end of the year I read less than 11 book then way I felt about reading in the begging of the 8th was pour because I would think that it was going to be the same way as 7th grade. By the time I came in September they told me I had to make different reading goals for my self and I had to read at least 50 books by the end of the school year. When I started reading I read small books I read so many I started to notice that they were to easy and were not on my level. So I started to read bigger and harder books and they where to hard for me so I started to use Mr locker stragies. One stragie that I really like is to try to relate to the main character.


I started reading books that were bast on life and what teens go through. there was one book that really inspired me and it was called A CHILD CALLED IT. BY DAVE PELZER.This inspired me alot because it talked about a boy who was abused by his mom that was based on a true so this made me read books that were on true storys. So this made me read books that were based on true storys. Another book I read was "what my girlfriend doesn't know" by sonya sones one stragety I used was that when I read I put an image in my mind to really understand the book and know what its really talking about.

fred`s reading experience

Well when I first came to middle school in 6 grade. I didn`t really read that much and I wasn`t at all that good of a reader. When I went to 7 grade I got better in reading but I didnt read alot of books and that didnt help me out.


The remark that comes closest to the way I feel about reading I didnt read to much before the 8th grade and now I really like reading. The book that I liked out of everything was maus 1 by art spiegeriman. This book inspired me to read more and it got me more interesting in reading.Also it inspired me so much was cause the book had lots of action and the holocaust was always something I wanted to learn about. The thing I really like about the book was the format of it it had like a comic book form with pictures and stuff and it made me understand the book better cause it showed the characters action.


One thing about independent reading in humanities that I like is sharing out. I think when we share out cause it kind of good to hear other people point of views on books. The one thing I didnt like about independent reading was the reading journal. I didnt really like the reading journal in the beginning of the year because it was kind of boring and hard. But it got better for me but it still kind of sucks for me. One thing I find challenging when reading books is when I cant really get what the book is talking about. For example when im reading a book it has to much going on and sometimes too much problems so I cant really keep up with the book. But then I learned new strategy`s and it help me out when that problems happens. Thank you come again -freddie
